Our Education Department advances culturally responsive, community-driven programming that uplifts children, youth, and families across early childhood, academic enrichment, leadership development, and community engagement initiatives.
Position Summary
The Education Coordinator supports the development, coordination, and implementation of educational programming across ALAS. This role works within the Education Department and collaborates across departments—including Social Services, Arts & Culture, Research, and Development—as well as with community partners.
The Education Coordinator ensures the smooth operation of programs serving children, youth, and families by strengthening communication, outreach, data tracking, and cross-departmental collaboration. This role requires cultural humility, bilingual communication skills, and a deep understanding of the lived experiences, strengths, and needs of Latino, immigrant, and farmworker communities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Community Outreach & Engagement

Communicate with families, schools, and community partners regarding educational programming and services.

Coordinate with ALAS departments to support cross-departmental collaboration in educational initiatives.

Participate in outreach activities, including community events, workshops, presentations, and field-based outreach (e.g., door-to-door, school settings, community centers).

Promote community voice, participation, and engagement in ALAS programming and advocacy efforts for children and families.

Build relationships with local schools and community stakeholders to strengthen program impact.
Program Support & Coordination
-
Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate information regarding educational services and opportunities.

Support the development and implementation of culturally responsive educational programming.

Coordinate educational events such as STEM days, book fairs, field trips, and community learning activities.

Collaborate with the Tutoring Coordinator to ensure smooth program implementation, including attendance at tutoring sessions.

Work with the Education Fellow to support Youth Collaborative and leadership programming.

Support implementation of First 5 and preschool programming in collaboration with Social Services and Research.

Develop and implement a soccer clinic and sports-based engagement initiatives.

Support planning and coordination of Summer Camp in collaboration with Social Services and Arts & Culture departments.
Tutoring Program Support
-
Attend tutoring sessions; assist with setup, student check-in, and dismissal.

Ensure required forms and documentation are completed for all participating students.

Recruit and support new tutors and volunteers.

Maintain tutor binders, student files, and program documentation.

Support training of adult volunteers, teen volunteers, and student interns.

Collaborate with the Tutoring Coordinator on family outreach and data collection.

Make referrals to Social Services, Mental Health, and Arts programs as appropriate.
Youth Leadership & Teen Programming

Coordinate teen leadership group in partnership with the Education Fellow.

Recruit participants and facilitate meetings and activities.

Plan events, service projects, research initiatives, and leadership development opportunities.

Oversee and implement college readiness curriculum.

Develop and support middle school leadership programming.

Coordinate with Research Department to support Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) initiatives.

Collaborate with Social Services and Arts departments on youth-focused projects.

Maintain data collection and documentation for teen programs.
Preschool & Early Childhood Programming

Support the development and expansion of preschool programming.

Coordinate with Research and First 5 partners to ensure alignment of services.

Collaborate with Social Services to ensure continuity and wraparound support for families.

Conduct outreach and recruitment for preschool programs.

Work with the Education Fellow to implement programming.
Events & Community Programming

Support coordination and planning of educational events (STEM days, book fairs, field trips, workshops).

Complete required event planning documentation and internal forms.

Coordinate sign-in processes and data collection for events.

Maintain calendar coordination across the Education Department and related programs.
Data Collection & Reporting

Collect, track, and document participation and engagement data in both qualitative and quantitative formats.

Prepare reports and summaries to support program evaluation and continuous improvement.

Develop and distribute monthly department data newsletter for administration and development.

Position Summary: The Outreach Coordinator – Monterey County plays a critical role in strengthening ALAS’s presence and impact within Monterey County by building trusted relationships with Latino individuals, families, and community-based organizations.
In close collaboration with the Director of Mental Health, this position supports community engagement efforts, contributes to mental health and well-being needs assessments, and coordinates culturally responsive outreach activities across the lifespan. This role requires cultural humility, bilingual communication skills, and a strong understanding of the lived experiences, strengths, and needs of Latino and immigrant communities.
The Outreach Coordinator serves as a bridge between ALAS and the community, ensuring that outreach, education, and engagement efforts are accessible, respectful, and aligned with ALAS’s mission and values.

Community Outreach & Engagement

grown into a trusted community organization that provides culturally-centered mental health
services, wrap-around case management, immigration support, education, social justice
advocacy, and community research initiatives. We are deeply committed to supporting children,
youth, families, farmworkers, asylum seekers, seniors, and the broader Coastside community.
The ALAS Colibrí Research Program is a participatory action research center at ALAS that
advances community-led strategies to promote wellness, cultural vibrancy, healing, and
resistance in marginalized and immigrant communities. We are founded on the principles of
cultural humility, cultura cura (culture cures), trauma-informed care, and relational engagement.
Our research partnerships with renowned institutions like Stanford Medicine, University of San
Francisco, UCSF, and other social service agencies enable us to advance our mission and serve
our community effectively. The Colibrí Child Wellness Program (CCWP) is a flagship
research-practice partnership program within Colibrí that involves ALAS staff and collaborators
at Stanford University School of Medicine and local clinical entities.
Position Summary
The Colibrí Child Wellness Program (CCWP) Supervisor supports the day-to-day operation of
CCWP management, coordination, and administration with guidance from the Colibrí Director
and Associate Director.
The CCWP is a clinical and direct service program that serves as the flagship research-practice
partnership within the ALAS Colibrí Research Program. ALAS and partnering clinical agencies
deliver community-embedded developmental, behavioral, mental health, and parenting services
through the CCWP. Clinical care and parent-child support services are provided on-site at ALAS,
in homes, and in the fields, alongside efforts to generate evidence for practice innovation.
The Supervisor plays the critical role of ensuring the successful operation and integration of
program components, including parenting support and developmental screening delivered by
CCWP staff, child-parent psychotherapy delivered through the ALAS Mental Health
Department, and on-site developmental-behavioral clinical services provided by partnering
agencies. The Supervisor will oversee day-to-day clinical program operations and programmatic
data collection, ensure the highest quality of services to children and families, advance the values
of cultura cura and relational trust at the center of CCWP, and collaborate with researchers.
Key Responsibilities
Below are the essential responsibilities of the CCWP Supervisor. Other duties may be assigned
that will be in keeping with the overall purpose and scope of the role.
Program Management & Coordination
● Supervise the day-to-day clinical operations of the Colibrí Child Wellness Program
(CCWP) to ensure family-centered service delivery.
● Coordinate and ensure smooth collaboration with the external clinical partners, including:
○ ALAS mental health therapists who deliver Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP);
○ Stanford PRIMES family care advocates who offer service navigation in
partnership with the Stanford Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics.
○ Subcontracted clinical partners, including Speech Goals, other Golden Gate
Regional Center providers, and Berens Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics
(DBP); coordinate logistical aspects of on-site clinical services like
developmental therapies and developmental-behavioral pediatric evaluations.
● Coordinate with other ALAS teams to supervise implementation of organization-level
best practices within the CCWP, including to following activities:
○ Collaborate with ALAS team members who manage facilities, IT, and events to
ensure that program needs are met.
○ Collaborate with ALAS leaders and staff working on data management and
quality, working with Colibrí leadership to help ensure that Colibrí practices align
with ALAS organizational-level approaches.
○ Manage program-related expense documentation and tracking in collaboration
with the finance team.
○ Supervise implementation of recommendations from the ALAS Safety Committee
in collaboration with Colibrí leadership.
● Work with the Colibrí leadership team to ensure that clinical and programmatic activities
remain centered on Colibrí’s core values, which include relational trust with immigrant
communities, centering the needs of children and families in the design of services,
uplifting cultural wealth and cultura cura, and advancing health equity and community
wellbeing.
Staff Supervision
● Provide administrative supervision of the ALAS Community Child Development
Specialist. This includes providing support for the logistics of implementing parent-child
support services at ALAS, including developmental screening, evidence-based parenting
support, and parenting groups. Supervisory responsibilities, in accordance with the
organization's policies and applicable laws, may include planning, assigning, and
directing non-clinical work and addressing and resolving administrative problems.
Supervision does not include clinical oversight or assurance of clinical service quality,
which will be provided by licensed clinicians in the program.
● Foster a collaborative, effective team, providing mentorship and professional growth
opportunities.
Data, Evaluation & Grant Management
● Support and supervise efforts to meet grant reporting requirements for CCWP service
activities.
● Coordinate with the ALAS research team (Research Director, Assoc. Director) and the
Program Evaluation Advisor (Ryan Matlow) to implement data collection protocols.
● Supervise the collection and maintenance of programmatic data (e.g., clinical data,
service utilization) and facilitate the collection of research data.
Required Skills and Experience
● Languages: Bilingual Spanish/English.
● Education: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree
(Master's preferred) in public health, social work, health administration, psychology, or a
related field.
● Experience:
o Demonstrated experience in program management or coordination, preferably in a
community health, early childhood, or nonprofit setting.
o Experience with basic program data management, data collection for research, or
program evaluation.
● Knowledge and Skills:
o Understanding of early childhood development, pediatric health systems, or
community mental health.
o Understanding of nonprofit operations.
o Understanding of challenges faced by the Latino community.
o Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
o Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate
effectively with diverse stakeholders including clinical partners, community
members, and internal teams.

Additional Skills (A Plus):
● Experience with grant reporting and managing program budgets.
● Experience with data management systems or software (e.g., REDCap) or electronic
health records.

● Knowledge of local community resources and social services for children and families.
● Experience working with research teams or integrating research findings into program
development.
● Knowledge of early childhood screening tools (e.g., ASQ) or evidence-based
interventions (e.g., Triple P).
● Familiarity with providing Medi-Cal contracted services, including issues such as billing.
Reporting and Collaborative Structure
This position reports to the Research Director (a developmental-behavioral pediatrician) for
clinical matters, and the Associate Director of Research and Advocacy for other aspects of
supervision.
Work Arrangement
● Location: Primarily in-person work required in Half Moon Bay, CA, with opportunities
for some hybrid/remote time.
● Hours: Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week), with flexibility to accommodate
occasional weekend or evening events. Specific on-site schedule to be determined.
Compensation and Benefits
● Salary: $85,000 annually.
