Position Summary

The counselor/therapist at ALAS will serve in the Mobile Behavioral Health  Services program at ALAS providing culturally responsive mental health services to farmworkers and  their families in the coastal community. Therapy services will be provided via individual, group,  and/or family sessions either in the ALAS office, in the mobile ALAS unit, or in client’s home. The  role involves working closely with other departments at ALAS including the farmworker department,  social services, arts department, research department and education department. Given the needs of  the community, this full-time position requires afternoon and evening availability as well as an  occasional weekend. This full-time position is 80% in-person (32 hours) and 20% remote (8 hours).  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide culturally-responsive and evidence-based individual, group, or family therapy,  counseling, and supportive services to ALAS clients 
• Conduct intake assessments for new clients  
• Provide appropriate referrals to ALAS clients within or outside the organization  • Provide ongoing follow-up care for all clients assigned to caseload  
• Collaborate with all of the relevant ALAS departments to ensure appropriate level of support is  provided efficiently  
• Adhere to documentation, policies, & procedures set forth by our funding mechanisms.  • Complete and maintain timely documentation of client interactions. 
• Participate in the weekly mental health clinical and didactic meetings.  
• Conduct phone screenings as assigned for prospective new or returning mental health clients at  ALAS.  
• Support the ALAS drop-in mental health clinic, as assigned.  
• Participate in community-wide events set forth by ALAS.  
• Provide outreach to and assess needs of the community

Required Skills

• Fluency in English and Spanish: clinical interventions, oral, and written 
• Knowledge of culturally responsive and evidence-based interventions

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling, clinical psychology, social work or related field. • Licensed or license eligible to practice behavioral health in the state of California as required by  the California Board of Psychology or California Board of Behavioral Sciences.  • Experience working with Latino populations in the behavioral health field 
• Bilingual English and Spanish 
• Understanding challenges faced by the Latino community.

Position Summary

The ALAS SUD Case Manager is responsible for providing case management services to clients dealing with substance use problems at ALAS. This will include assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of care and services. They serve as a primary point of contact for clients to access services, advocating for their needs and ensuring access to appropriate resources and support. The case manager will collaborate closely with ALAS substance abuse treatment counselor. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assessment and Planning:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify client needs, strengths, and challenges. 

  • Develop individualized care plans that address client goals and priorities, in collaboration with clients, substance abuse treatment counselor, other departments within ALAS, and/or organization in the county. 

 

Coordination and Implementation:

  • Coordinate and facilitate access to a range of SUD treatment services and other client needs as appropriate. 

  • Monitor client progress and record of services provided. 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records. 

 

Advocacy and Communication:

  • Advocate for client rights and needs, ensuring they receive appropriate and timely services. 

  • Serve as a liaison between clients, service providers, and other stakeholders. 

  • Provide education and support to clients and their families. 

 

Evaluation and Follow-up:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and services. 

  • Collaborate with treatment teams to ensure referral follow up. 

  • Conduct regular follow-up with clients to assess their progress and needs. 

  • Participate in team meetings and other professional development activities.

Position Summary

The Farmworker Outreach Specialist plays a key role in engaging farmworker communities, creating outreach materials, supporting program activities, and assisting with program data collection. This position focuses on expanding community awareness, strengthening engagement efforts, and developing relevant programming to ensure that farmworkers have access to the resources they need. 
The ideal candidate is creative, community-driven, and passionate about social justice. They should have experience in outreach, marketing, and program coordination, along with strong communication and cultural competency skills. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Outreach 
● Establish trust and rapport with farmworker community members through outreach activities. 
● Support the farmworker team in engaging farmworkers and their families in ALAS programs. 
● Create flyers, posters, and outreach materials to promote farmworker programs and services. 
● Organize outreach events, informational sessions, and cultural programming tailored to farmworker needs. 
Program Development & Support 
● Assist in developing and implementing programming that aligns with farmworker needs and interests.
● Work collaboratively with the Farmworker and Essential Worker Program Director to improve outreach strategies. 
● Provide logistical and administrative support for community events, advocacy initiatives, and farm visits. 
Marketing & Communications 
● Create marketing materials, flyers, and digital content to enhance program visibility. ● Collaborate with ALAS’s communications team to ensure outreach messaging is consistent and impactful. 
● Maintain regular communication with community partners and stakeholders to strengthen collaboration. 
Data Collection & Reporting 
● Assist with program data collection, ensuring outreach efforts are tracked and evaluated. 
● Present on program goals, outcomes, and impact at meetings, community gatherings, and stakeholder presentations. 

Required Skills

​● Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Community Outreach, Marketing, Communications, Social Work, or a related field (or equivalent experience in outreach and engagement).

o Minimum 2+ years of experience in community outreach, marketing, or program support.

● Cultivate authentic relationships with farmworkers, immigrant families, and underserved community members. 
● Conduct outreach to raise awareness about the Equity Express Bus and its services. ● Participate in community events, ensuring the bus is a trusted, welcoming presence. ● Build relationships and work in partnership with other ALAS staff, local organizations, nonprofits, and government agencies to enhance the bus’s reach and impact.
● Work with healthcare providers, advocacy groups, and social services to bring essential care to the community. 
Managing Operations & Innovation 
● Coordinate scheduling, routes, and services with the contracted transportation company, ensuring that everyone is safe and prepared for excellence. 
● Develop and implement creative programming tailored to community needs, from health services to cultural arts workshops. 
● Collaborate with ALAS leadership and partners to optimize routes and identify service gaps. 
● Manage other day to day issues and find creative solutions. 
Data & Storytelling 
● Track program goals, outcomes, and impact through detailed reporting. ● Capture and share the stories of those served by the Equity Express to inspire community support and advocacy. 
● Provide photos and updates for social media, expanding the program’s visibility. ● Support the fundraising and comms teams in amplifying our work and impact. 

Required Skills

● A background in and passion for community outreach, program coordination, or social services (3+ years preferred). 
● Track record in leading with integrity, humility, and respect for the communities we serve. 
● Spanish proficiency is highly preferred.
