IMMIGRATION

One of ALAS' priorities is taking care of the mental health of the members of our community. Our clinicians specialize in understanding immigration trauma and providing support and consultation to undocumented folks and U visa holders.

In partnership with the University of San Francisco Law Clinics, ALAS offers free consultation services to immigrants in our community. Our team of attorneys provides free legal advice and pathways to visas and asylum free of charge.

Together with the Bay Area Border Relief team, we work hard to create a safe haven for asylum seekers and their children. Our primary goals with this program are to cover the families’ basic needs, such as shelter or food, and welcome them into our community.

We are committed to pushing platforms and agendas to create a safety net for San Mateo’s coastline immigrant community. Some of the actions within ALAS’ immigrant advocacy line of work are to support Dreamers, to connect families to existing resources, and to demand new ones such as mental health services focused on immigration trauma.
