A Milestone for ALAS
In October 2024, ALAS celebrated a monumental achievement with the purchase of our very first building at 507 Purissima Street, located in the heart of downtown Half Moon Bay. This 3,628 sq. ft. space will serve as the foundation for our mission to empower Latino children, youth, families, and seniors through creativity and cultural preservation.

This new home represents a secure and permanent hub for ALAS, free from the uncertainty of leases or rent increases. It’s more than just a building—it’s a step toward ensuring the Latino community has a lasting space to call its own.

"As a leader, I don’t have to worry about a landlord selling or raising rent. We can plan for the long term, building the first Latino Cultural Arts Center on the coast."
– Dr. Belinda Hernandez Arriaga, Founder and Executive Director

The Impact of the Center
Building Roots for the Future
Owning this building means ALAS can continue to grow and thrive without the fear of losing our space. For over a decade, ALAS has been dedicated to uplifting the Latino community on the Coastside, and this new arts center ensures we can do so for generations to come.

"Today, with the purchase of this building, ALAS takes a monumental step toward fulfilling its long-held dream of establishing a permanent Latino Cultural Arts Center that will inspire creativity, healing, and community-building."
– Lilli Rey, Board President

The center also symbolizes the long-overdue recognition of Latino contributions to California's coastal communities, celebrating a history that spans centuries.
